AustenLand

AustenLand

On Monday, my sister in law and myself went to a special screening of Austenland.
It is a charming romantic comedy movie starring the lovely Kerri Russell , she plays a single 30-something (Jane Hayes) who admires Jane Austen novels, but also has a particular obsession with Mr. Darcy, "The proudest and most disagreeable man in the world". When I say "Obsession" I mean OBSESSION. I will not ruin the movie for you with "spoilers" so don't worry.  Jane Hayes takes a fantastic trip to England to take part in a Jane Austen theme park. Where the attendees get to play a role as if they were from a Jane Austen novel.
The costumes were ok; alittle plane Jane for my taste and not something I would drool over. But overall the costumes were a proper representation of that era.
I too love Jane Austen novels, my favorite by far is "Mansfield Park". You know your a fan when you can quote a few dialogues from the book or movie. Austenland is worth watching, it is a great summer movie. It is full of romance, wit and it certainly does not lack any amusement; just like a true Austen novel. Austenland is scheduled for release in the USA on August 16, 2013.

1950's Twist

Remember my post about Persunmall? Well here is another one. I received a parcel a few days ago and it was this lovely Retro Color Drape Chiffon Dress. Upon seeing the dress I knew right away I wanted to give it a 1950's twist, the question was how? The "white" dress was my canvas and all I did was add some polka dots, a pop of fuschia, red lips and my glasses. Enclosed with the dress was a lovely gold ring, details are shown in a photo below. How would you style your Retro Chiffon Dress from Persunmall?

Brotherly Love

Finally this weekend came, but sadly it went. I celebrated my 10 year wedding anniversary.
YES 10 years. We could of gone away, but we decided to stay in Philly at the Penn's View and enjoy
everything we love about our city.  Penn's View is the best hotel to stay at because everything is near by or walking distance. Well, it also depends on what you call "walking distance". Walking from Penn's view to south street was a bit of a hike, but when your in center city Philadelphia that is what you do...walk. *wink* The best part was being off from work, so we got to enjoy a three day weekend...awwww Stay tune for more photos.

Friday's outfit:

Breton Stripes!

Voile Loin!

Seems like summer is not really summer without paying homage to the Breton Stripe. Wearing stripes takes us to a place where sailors once occupied the shores/seas as the aroma of sea salt filled the air. History states that the "Breton Shirt" was the uniform of sailors only. Sailor wore these striped shirts to be spotted if they fell over broad. Also, the 21 stripes represented all of Napoleon's victories.

Leave it to Coco Chanel to find inspiration at the French Riviera for her 1917 Nautical line. She was a designer with vision; one who found beauty and inspiration in the least likey of places. Coco paired a brenton striped shirt with flared trousers, giving us the women who can wear both the pants and the skirt. From this moment on, Breton Stripes have set sail from the shores of the French Riviera into mainstream America allowing us all to feel "Oh So French".

Not up to a Breton shirt? You can still rock the "striped" look with shoes or a handbag.

Rainbow Sorbet

Ever wonder why people wear what they do? Ever wonder what made them go into the closet and pick that specific top/sweater? Would people still wear what they do if it were not for blogs or instagram? I can honestly say I have been dressing this way since before high school; because this is the real me. If people from high school were questioned today about me, I am certain they would say the same thing "That girl with long curly red hair, who dresses crazy." I would ask them to define "crazy". Either way call it what you like; this is me. I love color and when I get dressed I do not think of what colors match; rather what color is missing. That is just how my mind works when it comes to fashion/color and patterns..oxox How has your style changed since high school?
