MY JOHN HUGHES OF FASHION xoxox

Sorry I have taken long in posting my Day trip to NYC last week. I do not post during the weekends because I like to spend my time with family and friends or doing other things that I enjoy in life; but instagraming is another story *wink*

A few months before I was invited to attend Dana Maxx Fall 2013 press release ; I fell upon an awesome, fashionable guy on instagram named Micah Jess. Turns out MJ is a celebrity fashion blogger and TV personality, who like myself adores Betsey Johnson. During the Dana Maxx event guess who walked in? Why Micah Jess. I recognized him right away and introduced myself and after a while our conversation went betsey-ified. MJ asked if I liked Betsey and invited me to come out to this magical event. This event took place May 16th @ MACY's in Herald Square. It was open to anyone so I had to wait in line like everyone else. I did not mind because I was going to meet My John Hughes of Fashion BETSEY JOHNSON once again xoxo My first encounter HERE!

  I arrived super early with my niece and I am glad I did because I was able to take photos of Betsey's new dress collection for Macy's. Also, this was Betsey Johnson's first public appearance since her show hit the air on the style network. Micah kept the night going with background beats from celebrity DJ Kalkutta as we waited patiently. Then there she was, MY JOHN HUGHES OF FASHION. As we waited our turn, we were handed a complimentary BJ tote bag with a mirror. We were all asked to place our belongings, camera and cell phones in the totes, because they wanted their photographer to be the only one taking the photos; to keep the line moving. I did not mind because I was getting a print-out of the picture. Awwww MY JOHN HUGHES oF FASHION was so sweet and happy to see me, not sure if it was due to the many colors I had on or she noticed her Lobster necklace I was wearing...oxox I squeezed her so tight and wanted to take her home with me. I know this is not the end, I'll meet her again and next time it will be at her fashion show or out to lunch. Either way I'm so happy to have had the opportunity to meet her again. What a special moment in the fashion world and here I was a part of it somehow.

When I'm feeling Blue....

BLUE LIPS

An update, incase you are dying to know what I've been up to *wink*. Well on Friday I went to see the movie my heart has been longing for; The Great Gatsby in 3D, but not even an hour into the movie I start to FALL ASLEEP....OH MY WORD!!!!!! Not because the movie was boring, but because I work full time and when ever I am still for a long period of time, I go into this place called "Dream Land" ugh! I need to see this movie again, and EARLY so I won't fall asleep. And to think I wanted to catch the midnight show.

On a good fashionable note: I finally got a Lip Tar from OCC(Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics)

It was an exciting moment applying this blue beauty. All it took was a tiny pea size drop and it covered my entire lips. Blue lipstick is not for everyone, but if you like it, try it. Nothing wrong with exploring new colors and shades when it comes to lipsticks. After all isn't this what fashion is all about?

The Great CountDown!

My Great Gatsby-Themed Outfit by painthead featuring a charm necklace

The count down is here. Either 12 midnight tomorrow or friday night I will be getting my ticket to see this movie, The Great Gatsby. What will I be wearing? Not sure, but something reflecting this magical era. I already picture many girls waiting in line with their flapper dress and bow at hand. Head dress and maryjanes, some covered in glitter or gems. If you don't have a bow, then make it a glamourous flapper girls night out.

You can really take this movie to heart and go all out with your roaring 20's outfit, or you can tone it down and just add a pop of art deco. Below are a few examples of how to style an outfit inspired by the 20's. The examples are bold and beautiful, yet they are not over "dressing" to make it seem like your wearing a costume.

Golden Era

I know we have officially stepped into Spring, but seeing photos from Dolce and Gabbana Fall 2013 makes me wish Fall was around the corner. This collection was inspired by Venetian and Byzantine era; where Gold was the predominate color used in fresco paintings and churches. I'm loving all the bejeweled details on the dresses and shoes.

Enchanted Land

I've been blessed to have had the opportunity to travel to Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Peru and cross country three times. I have a strap book I started in High School filled with photos, postcards, stickers and anything I found worth keeping from each country I've visited. Each trip had it's own story and certain moments stand out more then others, but somehow Peru seem to be the most magical of them all. I went with my church on a missions trip and the duration of the trip was a month. We helped clear out a camp, made a soccer field, cleared path ways with a machete, yes a machete, I felt like a superhero!  We slept in huts with sleeping bags on the floor and once in a while we had those giant flying bugs land on our hair..eeek! But everything was so beautiful, the stars lit up the night skies and the moon illuminated everything. I was not in need of a flashlight, for I had the moon to guide me.

During a weekend we went to the capital, Lima. Right away I saw a great influence from the Spainsh Empire that once took over the Incas. The churches, cobble stone streets, rustic lanterns and the crosses all remain as a time machine into the past.  And of course you cannot visit Peru without hiking for days to Machu Picchu. That was the cherry on top of the whole trip. I was left alone on the hiking trails because the tour guy needed to take back two people from our group due to asthma. And the leader needed to go as well because she was a nurse. The tour guy tells me "Just keep going straight until you find the end, you will find other people" He forgot to mention it would take two hours, an important part that was left out- Ya' think!  Was I scared? Yes, I was only a teen and I thought I was going to die, but I made it and found the others from my group. The very next morning we hiked a bit more, then out of nowhere there it was , MACHU PICCHU *heavens open*

I could not believe I was there, a magical place you only read of or only hope to be in, but there I was. In person, standing on history, wonder and beauty. I was breathless , but amazed at how something so beautiful can exist. Now you can only imagine the feeling I felt when I saw these photos from French Vogue, April 2013. Everything came back to me. I can only reminisce, but not for long because I know I will return..xoxo
