Under the Sea Party!

So, what do i do when i am not working, raiding my leggings bin, chasing rainbows and stuffing my face with cupcakes? I LOVE to decorate for parties. I love coming up with ideas and most of the items comes from Dollar Tree. Yup! You heard it right, but i call it "Dollar Chic". This party was inspired by the sea and of course mermaids. Party favors were tiny gold fishes.Enjoy! ooxxoxo I can write more in details a "How to", but for now, just view pics.

Luckiest mermaid in the world, to be in a pool of gumballs!

What would the world be without candy? Boring, tasteless and very very SAD. I always said that the future is not gonna be grey, black and dirty, like you see in futuristic movies. It's gonna be colorful, fun, neon and very very yummy. I don't know why the future is depicted with people dressed in rags, and shoes with holes in them. I think in my future i see a very big giant candy store, or anything to do with candy and cupcakes. I love this store called IT'SUGAR. They have a few locations, in LA, New York and Atlantic City where i want to go sometime this summer and visit this glucoicious place. They also have cute bags, tee's and it's all about the Sweets.

I adore their photo shoots. They use candy in a innovative way and make it look all so stylish.
Wearable Candy. If i was the model i would not be hungry...lol. Visit their site here to get a sugar rush!

I so want this bag. I want. I want!!!

CANDY COUTURE

My art show was this past friday. It was fun and nice to see family and friends come around. It was also nice to see and meet new people. The art show was held at a home and investment company, which is why you see the desk and computers.Every First Friday's in Philly companies open up their doors for us to see what they do, network etc. Some have art shows, some have play's and there was a dance studio that gave free tango lessons. The crowd is young, hip and funky.

My new paintings were inspired by candy , cupcakes and color. It was also inspired by polyvore and how i make my sets there. As i was painting, i was thinking about how i layer and move items around while making a set. I wanted the painting to have the same effect as a set. Norman Rockwell also inspired my paintings. I love how the main subjects pop out against the white. Leaving the background white made the girls stand out more, and make the paintings more brighter. Below is a set i made in polyvore, to give an example of how the site inspired my paintings.

*The real paintings do NOT have "PaintHead" . I added that there just for this post only.

Somewhere over the Rainbow!

This past weekend i went over the Rainbow. I had a lovely Wizard of Oz party and made sure every thing down to the food was OZ-ly, lol if that's a word??? It was fun decorating, which hosting a party and coming up with fun ideas is what i also love.
So this one was by far one of my faves, and of course my candy party, tehe. I made this painting of Dorothy's Ruby red shoes.

Can't have a party without some candy
I made this Rainbow by hand with help of course..tehe
It came out exactly how i pictured it in my head!
I used tissue paper. Tissue paper is perfect to fold and
it already comes in different yummy colors. I also made the clouds out of
white glittery tissue paper. Add some balloons and you have a magical entry to OZ.
I wanted everything to go with the theme, so i thought of JELLO.
It's easy to make, comes already in multi colors and looks so pretty all together.

You know i am a faithful coke drinker,
but i fell in love with these. They looked so
pretty and added a pop of color to the food table so much more!
Me in balloon Heaven!I was Galinda, the Good Witch!
In my own version, lol

My brother Eric, Ray and Cousin Alby!
Fashionable urban guys, LOL!

Christmas Glow!
My Christmas was sweet and lovely. How was yours? I had family over for my nephews Bday party, where i had to have a mini candy buffet..yumo! Below are photos of my xmas glee. I made the pictures blurry on purpose because i liked how the lights look. Also checkout that yummy cupcake wrapping paper i found at Target. You know it's meant to be because later that day i went to Dollar Tree and found that awesome cupcake ribbon topper..OH MY, i could of just passed out, but then i knew time would of been wasted and i had some wrapping to get done. Behind that awesome cupcake wrapper was a cute dollie for my niece. I got some cool stuff for xmas, i will share in another post.

C@ndy Buffet

Scrapblog,Scrapblog,Scrapbook,Scrapbook,Trick or Treat,Trick or Treat
Candy buffets were everywhere these past two years.
Everywhere from weddings, birthdays to even baby showers.
Which i don't mind, because if you know me,
you would know that i am the biggest Candy Whore there is.
The above and below photos are from my own Candy buffet...
My "SWEET TOOTH" Birthday party. PhotobucketPhotobucket
Here are a few things tips from planning a candy buffet.

Use clear, glass jars, vases, jugs
whatever as long as it's clear.
This shows all the colors of the candies and makes
the buffet look prettier.
Get them in different shapes and sizes ,
so it creates dimension.
they are cheaper then getting them from
a bridal store or interior design store.
I went with the giant cocktail glasses,
some fish bowls.
If you are having a color scheme,
get candies in those colors.
If your event is outside,
stay away from candies that will melt, duh,
like chocolate or yogurt covered candies.
Hard covered candies are the best,
because they come in many colors,
they are easy to scoop and less messy.

Expect to spend at least $150-200
dollars on candy or maybe more,
yes candy is pretty and may seem cheap,
but in the end it all adds up.
Each person will eat about 2lbs each.
You still want the buffet to
look full and to show there is enough candy,
so do go all out on the buffet,
i mean it is a buffet right?
Buy candy in bulk,
like in BJ's .Wal-mart always has
the best candy sells..
YUMMY. Start looking early for the kinds
of candy you want,
so you can make sure the store you are
going to will have them. Planning a
Candy Buffet should be fun, IT'S CANDY,
who doesn't love it?
Everyone becomes five all over again
when it's time to get some candy.

The kind of candies i had,
were the ones i grew up with or just my fave.
Anything from Wonka i love,
skittles, giant lollipops, Tooties Roll,
Gummy Bears where a big hit...lol
I also had boxed candy, and wrapped ones,
that way you do not worry about people's
hands all over the candy.
For open candies,
like the skittles, gummies..etc..use a scooper.
Whatever you do,
just make it your own, and HAVE FUN!

Here are some awesome
candy buffet's pictures i found in the web.
Because these pics are everywhere
the real credit sources vanishes,
but if you see ur pics here and want credit,
do let me know.
