FareWell Polyvore

Yesterday the whole Polyvore community was shocked when Poly announced it was acquired by another company. I will not even mention the name here because I do not want anything to do with it. The site and app were immediately disabled and all the years of creating, making friends was gone. So many members around the world are hurting right now including myself.

Many are upset directly at Polyvore, but this should not be. Polyvore had/has no control over the decisions that were made after it was acquired. Knowing Polyvore I am pretty sure they fought to give us notice. I'm sure they fought to keep Polyvore as is. I'm sure they fought for us in ways we may never know. It would of been 10 years for me this August as a member. That is 10 years of creating sets, making friends and having fashion adventures that would not have happen to me if I was not a member.
Polyvore was not only an online fashion site, but a family. It was always amazing seeing Polypals support each other creatively and amazing seeing the bonds that grew through out the years. We were loved, cared for and heard. The love was felt. Even if people joined due to reasons other then fashion, one thing was certain; Polyvore created a safe space for anyone to be themselves and to all be princess for a while as we played digital dress up.

I have always been proud of Polyvore from the start and always believed they would get as far as they did. What an honor to have been a part of their journey; an honor to have been asked for my opinions or suggestions; an honor to have been invited to meet Pasha Sadri, Jess Lee , Nadia and Chyrstal and an honor to have been asked to be a Community Member Correspondent during Fashion Week. I will forever be thankful. This is a big sting for the Polyfam and the online fashion world. I'm sure within time the ripple effects will really start to show.

THANK YOU POLYVORE. You will always be my number one. The bubbles to my coke.
Whatever my fashion adventures hold in the future I promise to always take you with me.
It's been great Poly.

Philadelphia Fashion Show from Italy

On September 19th I had the privilege to attend The Philadelphia Fashion show from Italy hosted by
Uomo Moderno Magazine, founded by Francesco Di Maio. The fashion show was held at the Morris House's courtyard and it served as the perfect background for the collections that would later come down the runway.
I entered the courtyard to the sounds of Valentina Raffaelli and her band "Sunshine Superman"while people mingled eating complimentary antipasti of Chef Luke Palladino and drinking vodka by Punzone and Ocoo, the beauty drink. As press, I was able to see a few looks first hand and was able to bond with other photographers who had the same mission "GET THE PICTURE".

The fashion show showcased collections from italian designers Nico Didonna, Rumjungle, Lvchino, Luca Gregorio and Francesca Marotta.
This was a very elegant, chic event with a bit of a Philly edge to it. It was well organized and the man of the hour Francesco Di Maio was friendly and made me feel welcomed. I left thinking we were childhood friends because that is how lovely of a person he is. To top it off he was very stylish as he was clothed in the designs of Nico Didonna.

Francesca's collection was by far my favorite. Not only because it was feminine in structure, color and movement, but because it was also cohesive and beautiful.

Venexiana Spring/Summer 2015: New York Fashion Week

It's bittersweet sorrow thinking summer has come to an end, but it is also exciting because that means New York fashion week begins. This season started on Sept 4th and will run until Sept 11th. On Saturday Sept 6th 2014, I had the privilege of attending Venexiana Spring/Summer 2015 fashion show during Mercedes Fashion week in NY. I was invited and accepted without a second thought.
This collection was filled with future red carpet looks for the Emmy's and Oscars. One can only hope more stylist would dress the stars in these beautiful Venexiana gowns.

Although I did not have an assigned seat, I was very happy where I ended up.
I ended up sitting on the floor next to the media photographers. These guys/gals are cool. They eat chocolate and red bull for lunch and kind of dress the same. They have a world within the fashion world. Mingling outside the seats becomes the best part of it all. You leave making "friends" who were on the same mission as you; that is to take photos and enjoy the show, even if it means you have to sit on the floor. I was truly happy to attend this show and to be up close to the models. I was able to see all the details on each gown.

In this collection you will see the mermaid silhouette, plunging necklines, open backs, one shoulder, beaded gowns with sequins and preciosa crystals. There was no holding back on the shimmer. Colors: Dusty rose, soft yellow, aqua, aquamarine, lilac, periwinkle, gold and black. Enjoy!
