Polyvore and CoverGirl Launch 'Polyvore Live'

Polyvore, the online fashion community, has partnered with CoverGirl to launch 'Polyvore Live,' a fashion show during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week that will showcase the collections of four alumni from the Fashion Institute of Technology.

The show will take place on Monday, Feb. 13 at La.Venue and will be live-streamed online at Polyvore.com. Prominent fashion bloggers -- to be revealed on Polyvore.com one week before the show -- will walk the catwalk.

FIT's four emerging designers -- Dana-Maxx Pomerantz, Lauren Bagliore, Sergio Guadarrama and Vengsarkar "Ven" Budhu -- were chosen by the Polyvore community from a group of FIT alumni who submitted designs.

"Polyvore's mission is to democratize fashion and we're thrilled to be a launch pad for four amazing up-and-coming fashion designers," said Jess Lee, Polyvore's co-founder and vice president of product. "Whether it's having an all-blogger catwalk, giving budding stylists a voice or showcasing brilliant new design talent, Polyvore opens doors."

Polyvore's community will be able to preview the four collections through a series of online challenges -- one for each designer -- which will take place Jan. 16-27. Users will be asked to create "sets," i.e. digital collages, with pieces from the featured designer's collection as well as items from CoverGirl. The designers will personally choose their favorite Polyvore set, and the winner will get the chance to sit front row at the show.

Under the Sea Party!

So, what do i do when i am not working, raiding my leggings bin, chasing rainbows and stuffing my face with cupcakes? I LOVE to decorate for parties. I love coming up with ideas and most of the items comes from Dollar Tree. Yup! You heard it right, but i call it "Dollar Chic". This party was inspired by the sea and of course mermaids. Summer's Memory!

I love this fashion editoral from "W" magazine, Sept 2011 issue. I noticed something familiar and right away thought about Lori Goldstein. This editioral reminds me of one i wrote about back in April titled "Hip-Hop"

It has Goldstein trademark, play of color, texture and patterns.

I'm loving the whole concept. It's as if a warrior princess walked out of a comic strip possessing superhero powers. I am also excited about Goldstein being named Fasion Editor at large for W magazine. I cannot wait to see what's to come.

My Birthday was on August 12th. I celebrated on the 13th, got three cakes, balloons and cool earrings from my sister and co-worker. And the best thing was a Bday card with a frog on the front wearing bright pink lipstick, blue eyeshadow and long lashes with diamonds.xoxo

So today's "Lunchable Threads" is my bday outfit. I wanted something funky, fun and of course bright. I went with a polka dot skirt, neon green tang top layered with a hot pink laced top.

Excuse my facial expression, it started to rain..eeek! For this look i wanted to play around with color. I don't know about you, but i love Red and Brown together, but toooo much of the same color can be blinding. So i added my orange leggings for a pop of color. Love this dress, i got it from Joyce Lesile. The detailed flower is to cute, reminds me of a collage. I called it my "Potatoe Sack Dress" The dress was to grey for me, so i wanted a few pop of colors. I added my purple leggings, magenta necklace and earrings. My nails were baby blue. So enjoy!

Once upon a time Stripes were considered diabolical. It was used to represent tricksters, prostitues, jokers and the "low class". But thanks to Coco Chanel and Vivienne Westwood,stripes have become part of our fashion statements and decor. If stripes today still meant what they did back in the 13th century i'd be an outcasted clown who probably be put in jail for selling to much striped lollipops, and wearing to many stripes with polkadots and glitter, and Prada would take the "Devil's" Cake for their Spring 2011 stripe collection, which includes shoes too..xoxoox

Irregular Choice Shoes!

Another Hollywood Legend gone today. Elizabeth Taylor passed away and left behind her memorable roles on screen. She is the last Hollywood Goddess. These days people are just "Famous" in her days people where "Movie Stars". Liz was a true beauty, i wonder if she knew how beautiful she was with those Violet Blue eyes that are so rare as the diamonds she collected. A true legend that will be missed.

This was my outfit for saturday's Girl's Night Out! I just love this Joyce Leslie Lace top, i've had it for years, but for some reason it never gets old. A night out to me means shimmer or sequin, so i probably could of been the disco ball.

All the snow has finally melted away and i was able to wear my Paris Hilton Leopard "Destiny" shoes. Last time i checked they were sold out, but it could be in stock now at heels.com . Such a Shoe Whore! WooHoo. I'm seriously going shopping this week,(WAYYYYYY OVER DUE) so i am excited..eeek!

Even Rhianna Loves Prada. In her latest video she is rocking the clown strip wrap that i love.

This video is crazy and very colorful. Love the print dress inspired by John Galliano.

Her Lovely make-up was done by celebrity make-up artist Sharon Gault and Priscilla Ono who used Obsessive Compulsive Lip Tars, which has awesome yummy bright colors for the lips.

I've always loved this brand , they rock with the colors to die for, highly pigmented and vegan as well.

They also have Loose concentrates for the eyes! In other words , eye shadow, lol

I was able to see Pamella Roland Fall 2011 Collection which left me gasping for air. I sat in the third row behind Robert Verdi and Brittney Snow, which allowed me to see in full view all the great details of every garment. Roland's Collection was inspired by the Far East where she lived in asia for a while. In this collection you see so much details and great craftsmanship. Every piece evokes an emotion and you clearly see her concept. Roland explains "Having lived in Asia, I was inspired by the culminating of old with new, western technologies with eastern tradition, modern cityscapes with rural farmland and the colors of the field harvests and urban skylines."

Along with her inspiration, Roland still kept her signature look, by adding asian prints, luxury fabrics, draping and jewel like colors to add to the richness of her glamourous creations. There's no wonder why A-lister's flock to her Gor'juss designs.

Making a Video for Fashion World Live, a new site that launches on Thursday 2/17/11

My John Hughes of Fashion Betsey Johnson showed @ 6pm. I was so close in getting in, but it did not work out. Oh so close , yet so far!! I'm gonna go cry now *Sniff* I was able to watch it stream live, so technically i was there watching it along with everyone else, LOL! Next time i'll be there...xooxoxoxo The best thing at BJ is that she cares for her viewers, she always makes a goodie bag for everyone, even if your in the front seat or not!

Before i said Good-bye to Fashion week , The Bumby's were there giving "Fair& Honest Appraisal" of everyone's outfit or should i say, those who are brave enough to get an appraisal..lol I was in line for a good 15 minutes when i saw Cynthia Rowley and then five minutes after that Tim Gunns walked right in front of me..Ok ,so i'm guessing your probably wondering why the heck i did not get out of line and speak to them, LOL well because I know for sure this is not the end for me , and someday i will meet them again. So getting an appraisal of my outfit was indeed more important..oxoxoxooxox Below is what "Jill Bumby" wrote, mind you they are in disguise, with wigs and hiding their faces, so we don't know who they are which is what makes this fun and the wait is full of suspense. I enjoyed it. I also LOVE Polyvore for existing and being such an awesome Fashion site, i've learned so much about fashion through them! oxoxoxoxoox

Fashion Week is more like "Dream Week" to all those who want to live, breathe and eat fashion for life. It's the place to be to see what's hot and what will be hitting the streets in a few months. It's seeing history in the making as designers send down their fabulous creations.

I was able to go to fashion week all thanks to SirAlistair Rai who's fabulous accessories are seen on Hollywood's A-Lister's like Julia Roberts, Jessica Alba, Ricky Martin,Mischa Barton and Drew Barrymore, just to name a few. They are also considered the best from Instyle magazine. I also love their Motto "Because truth, beauty, and love never go out of style".

My Valentine's Day❤ was spent with fashion. I was excited and nervous at the same time. Not knowing what to expect was both kinda scary and oh so awesome at the same time. *Yikes*, but seeing the Lincoln Center was beyond words. All i kept thinking was "I'm finally here". I wasn't even there for 10 minutes when random photographer's starting taking my photo. So somewhere in cyber world my pictures are floating around, lol. Glee-ness! Seeing the MBFW logo was heavenly, i swear i heard the angelic voice of Josh Groban sing at that very moment.❤ *This is a two part post, more to come very soon*

Exclusive: The Secrets Behind Designer Inspirations!

CYNTHIA ROWLEY

Cynthia Rowley’s muse for fall: Maggie Gyllenhaal. “Though we always draw from a wide range of cultural and artistic inspirations, Maggie Gyllenhaal’s character Lee Holloway in Secretary is our central muse this season,”. “Her clothes are ladylike, but underscored with raw, sexy, edgy qualities.” Expect colors like mustard yellow, dark emerald, and wine paired with basic ecru and white tones. “This juxtaposition of heaviness and lightness creates a liveliness that’s present in every design.”

THE BLONDS

“East meets blond!” is the inspiration for The Blonds fall collection, designers Phillipe and David Blond. Planning to serve up another jewel box of colors for fall. “Turquoise, amethyst, emerald, onyx, ruby, and gold,” the Blonds say, revealing their colorways. “It’s all about strong colors for strong women. And we’re obsessed with jewelry, so naturally we chose those tones.”

CHRISTIAN COTA

With fans including Blake Lively, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, and Tina Fey, designer Christian Cota is getting inspired by nature for fall. “Women in the mountains,” he says, describing his latest imaginary muse, “East meets West on a mountain trek.” Expect to see lots of crimson, like the sketch seen here, a color Cota describes as “auspicious and powerful.”

RUFFIAN

The lightfooted Ginger Rogers is the muse behind Ruffian’s next collection, or rather, one particular walk in her shoes: “Ginger Rogers’ walk of shame home from Fred Astaire’s apartment—that’s what we were thinking of,”. Picture scalloped lace, high hemlines, and fun accessories.

REBECCA MINKOFF

Rebecca Minkoff, whose handbags have been snapped up by Halle Berry, Vanessa Hudgens, and Reese Witherspoon, is continuing her ready-to-wear line this season. “I’ve combined the practicality of being a modern woman with my inner free spirit. This all can be seen in the mix in textures and prints, a blend of luxury and a down to earth sensibility.”

ELIE TAHARI

“Delicate lace, richly embroidered leather, luxurious furs with a play on movement and the feminine form of a dancer,” Elie Tahari says, citing his touchstones for the fall line. His sketch shows off flowing grays and floral patterns offset with a lighter blouse with loose sleeves.

CHRISTIAN SIRIANO

Christian Siriano found his inspiration while researching images of plant life. “I read about these dark plants that only survive out of sunlight, beautiful leaves and blossoms that come up black and thrive in the dark,” the Project Runway winner tells us. “I have had my dark moments in past collections, but this time I let the dark thrive in the same way. I wanted some of the folds and sculptures of this collection to mimic the qualities of these plants.” As for color, he’s using greens, mauve, and shades of black and gray. “The color green is a pesto, olive, almost military green,” he says. “It comes from the plants that will be shown on beautiful cocktail dresses and evening gowns.”

RACHEL ROY

If Rachel Roy’s sketch is to be believed, Roy will be featuring a multitude of fabrics and textures for her fall runway show. She also says to expect “vibrant new saturations of color.”

MAX AZRIA

For Max Azria’s namesake collection, he focused on “timeless tailoring and rich textures.” His sketch, shown, proves his point, teasing us with a sleek blazer layered over a black draped dress.

PETER SOM

“The collection is all about real clothes for women with a touch of the unexpected,” says designer Peter Som, who counts Rachel Bilson, Eva Mendes, and Anne Hathaway as clients. His sketch proves that saturated hues aren’t just a spring thing. “Cerise is the dominant bright color of the collection,” Som tells us. “It’s tempered by matching it with classic menswear-inspired neutrals like navy, flannel gray, and black.”

TOMMY HILFIGER

Quintessential American designer Tommy Hilfiger says his fall collection will be all about “global prep.” Think of it as Old Glory picking up a few more stripes. “Our heritage has always been red, white, and blue,” Hilfiger explains. “This fall, our new red is burgundy, our new blue is Air Force blue, and we’re using yellow and bottle green as pops of color.” The new palette can be seen in this sketch from his collection.

BADGLEY MISCHKA

Mark Badgley and James Mischka are looking forward to going retro. “This season, we are going back to our roots by celebrating the allure, sexiness, and mystery of Old Hollywood,” the designers tell us. “We really love how this dress from our Mark+James collection captures that mood.”

MARCHESA

The Charles Dickens novel Great Expectations inspired Marchesa designers (and InStyle contributors!) Keren Craig and Georgina Chapman for fall. “The collection follows Miss Havisham’s eternal plight with dramatic shades of red, blanche, and noir transformed into three dimensional reappliqued lace, python, leather, and goat skin detailed silhouettes. We wanted to create great expectations of classic opulence, both ethereal and romantic,” they tell us. The photo collage, seen here, gets at their girlish gloomy musings.

Donna Karan describes her fall DKNY collection as “street chic.”

To Me MJ could never go wrong. His runway shows have become one of the "Must Attend" shows during any Fashion Week. MJ just gets better and better with time. His RTW Spring 2011 collection is so light, refreshing and screams "fun in the sun". I love how Mj uses colors, he is one of my favorite designers who is not afraid of using color and mixing, matching them with unexpected elements. Stripes are in for spring 2011, but with the nautical theme, this collection takes it a step further with bright oranges, yellows and cool bangles.

Betsey Johnson Ready to Wear Spring 2011 Collection is so fun and Colorful. The dresses almost have a Black Light glow to them. I love the pop of neon and all the over the top details.

It's kinda like an 80's tough girl wearing a dress for the first time and this is what she put together..LOVE it! I also love the "Ride Me" necklace.
